Quote of the Day:
"The beginning of love is the will to let those we love be perfectly themselves, the resolution not to twist them to fit our own image. If in loving them we do not love what they are, but only their potential likeness to ourselves, then we do not love them: we only love the reflection of ourselves we find in them." - Thomas Merton

Song of the Day:
[[[ Follow the Sun - Xavier Rudd ]]]

Yes, many tragic, traumatizing  and unsettling  events have occurred this month, but the death of François Jacob was not one of them.  This is not to say that his death was not sad or unfortunate, but more that he lived a full life, dying at the age of 92 on April 19th and leaving a great legacy. He was a French war hero whose combat wounds forced him to change his career path from surgeon to scientist, a pursuit that led to a Nobel Prize in 1965 for his role in discovering how genes are regulated and how traits are inherited. The New York Times wrote an article upon his death and quoted,""What intrigues me in my life is: How did I come to be what I am?" he wrote in his 1988 autobiography, "The Statue Within." "How did this person develop, this whom I rediscover each morning and to whom I must accomodate myself to the end?""

Horoscope of the Day LIBRAS:
Things have changed more than you realize with a friend or loved one. Even if you have seen this person from time to time, you haven't been in touch enough to recognize the changes at hand. So if this individual - or your relationship - seems different, this could be the reason. Be open to learning what's new, and try to recognize how this person has evolved. Although it may take some getting used to, the new state of affairs could actually help to enhance an already good relationship.

Surprise! Surprise!

Apparently we are in for a surprise Libras!

Daily Horoscope:
There once was a backyard gardner who loved apples. This gardner only had a small backyard, though, and only had room left for one fruit tree. But he loved many apple varieties equally. It was a  hard choice.. would he plant Granny Smith, McIntosh, or Golden Delicious? He finally settled on one.  And as time went on, he looked forward to his first harvest. Finally the buds appeared, and he knew he'd reap a wonderful crop of apples. When the apples formed, he saw that he had all three varieties on his tree! Turns out he had inadvertently chosen a grafted tree, which produced his favorite varieties. You wil have a similar surprise soon, Libra, from a limited choice you made.

Happy Humpp Day readers!
Horoscope of the Day:
If love is forever, how can it be that people who were once deeply in love can grow apart and stop loving each other after many years together? You may now be pondering whether you truly love someone, or whether someone truly loves you. If a relationship ends, was it never for real? That question cannot be answered in this small space, or perhaps in any way for certain. Just know this, Libra: Love is a living thing. To keep it going you must feed it and nurture it. To keep focusing on whether it's real or not will only frustrate you. Do your best to keep it alive, and if it dies anyway, then take your love someplace where it can flourish.

It absolutely amazes me when the stars know exactly what's going on it my life, and the higher power's way of calming me down and putting me at peace is through my Daily Horoscope app on my iPhone! Although I do wonder how every other Libra and I have the exact same answers.. maybe the same medicine heals different illnesses? Well, this  was exactly what I needed!

As for today Libras:
Growing can sometimes involve pain - hence the term "growing pains." You are now going through a challenging learning experience. It may involve some heartache, or some emotional angst. But overall, Libra, It is very, very good for you. There are some truths about yourself that you needed to face for a long time. Nothing terrible - just some insights into why you do certain things, and why you see the world in the way you do. You will know that you've graduated from this process when you experience a wonderful feeling of revelation or enlightenment, and it ill help you to find success in a very important area of your life.

Quote of the Day:
"Because sometimes the truths you can't change end up changing you, and helping you grow."

Quote(s) of the Day:
"He is so lost in his sadness, he has no idea how visible it is."

"Pain is hard to put into words, and in life there is always pain. It is as natural and birth and death. Pain makes us who we are, it teaches us and tames us, it can destroy us and it can save us."

Happy Weekend, readers!! Let's remember to choose love and peace. We will open our hearts and allow wonderful things to flow into our lives this weekend. Cheers!

Thursday, March 14, 2013

It has been a long and exhausting week to say the least, but instead of focusing on our worries and concerns today, let's make a promise to ourselves to take some time just to think about all the exciting things happening in our lives. This doesn't mean to mindlessly repeat all the things we are thankful for in our heads tonight before we sleep, but it can mean to simply recognize what makes us smile on our way home.

I'll start us off!

I had an incredibly positive and productive morning, which set the tone for the rest of my day. I enjoyed a LARGE Hazelnut Iced Coffee from yours truly, Coffee Bean, and whipped myself up some eggs and avocado in a perfectly warmed tortilla.

I get to go home this weekend and spend time with my precious 5-month old nephew, who can't fathom the idea of not having joy in his life-- which I find beautiful. I think its amazing that we are all born with a clear perspective of the world, and what makes it all fuzzy is life itself.

Quote(s) of the Day:
"Those who can laugh without cause have either found the true meaning of happiness or gone stark raving mad."

"Once your mindset changes, everything on the outside will change along with it." - Steve Maraboli

Song of the Day:
A good friend showed me this Israeli artist, and I have fallen in love with his music.

Thought-provoking Tuesdays:

We live in a world where people don't typically pay attention to the changes we undergo because human nature has allowed us to be absorbed in our own worlds first. We instead judge who people have become based on their new surroundings, environment, new clothes, and new appearances; we forget that they may have adapted to that new way of life without changing the core of who they really are. We see them in  new light, making different decisions based on what we think are different morals, standards, and values. We, as people, have a hard time looking at others, and taking a moment to think that they may be leading a different life than what we see on the outside. We want to make assumptions and create a story that fits what we think is happening in order to validate our feelings. And when that person comes along in our lives that does observe our superficial changes; it may be too hard for them to understand that the essence of who we are hasn't changed- that it may really just be the environment we have adapted to. Our clothes, drinking habits, life choices, and the car we drive may sometimes be an indication of who we are, but more often than not, they are not aligned with who we are at core, and who we want to be. We strive to meet the expectations of those around us, and that may mean that we live up to higher standards with people who expect more from us. We meet people that bring the best aspects of our personalities to life and exist to keep us afloat-- to keep us living to our highest potential. People don't really change-- they grow, experience, adapt, and sometimes make mistakes. The essence of who we are and what makes each of us unique is a constant part of our personalities. We may travel the world, use Celsius instead of degrees Fahrenheit to tell the weather, learn different languages, begin to cook on our own, wear button-downs instead of T-shirts, dye our hair, and acquire different habits-- but who we are deep down, without the world altering our appearance, the type of people we are drawn to, the people we love, our morals and values stay the same.  Only those who connect with us on a deep level will be able to see that those superficial changes are only differences on the surface and not who we are, and will always be deep down.

Quote of the Day:
A friend posted this on Facebook and I couldn't help but share it and comment about it!

"People paint this image of you and when their picture doesn't align they become angry and you become a fraud"

>Sometimes people's paintings have been accurate all along, and they just have a new perspective of that image. It may be that you aren't a fraud, and they just feel failed.

Monday's Madness
Let's end our long President's Day weekend with a moment where we set our intentions for the week. We will have a positive and productive week readers, where we remember to take care of ourselves each day within the madness of our lives!

Song of the Day:
     [[ Clarity - Zedd ]]

Lyrics:

Hot dive into frozen waves where the past comes back to life
If I fear for the selfish pain, it was worth it every time
Hold still right before we crash cause we both know how it ends
A clock ticks ‘till it breaks your glass and I drown in you again
Cause you are the piece of me I wish I didn’t need
Chasing relentlessly, stick fight and I don’t know why
If our love is tragedy, why are you my remedy?
If our love’s insanity, why are you my clarity
If our love is tragedy, why are you my remedy?
If our love’s insanity, why are you my clarity
Walk on through a red parade and refuse to make amends
It cuts deep through our ground and makes us forget all common sense
Don’t speak as I try to leave cause we both know what we’ll choose
If you pulled and I push too deep then I’ll fall right back to you
Cause you are the piece of me I wish I didn’t need
Chasing relentlessly, stick fight and I don’t know why
If our love is tragedy, why are you my remedy?
If our love’s insanity, why are you my clarity
Why are you my clarity?
Why are you my remedy?
Why are you my clarity?
Why are you my remedy?
If our love is tragedy, why are you my remedy?
If our love’s insanity, why are you my clarity?

I hate that feeling of being alone.
The one where you realize that the person you could share you deepest and most darkest thoughts, is further away than you could ever have possibly imagined.
The feeling that you both have somehow managed to grow apart, and that feeling of loss.
The feeling of knowing that deep down there is no longer anything for you with them, you've gotten everything you could from your relationship together.
The feeling of missing them, even though they're right there, on the phone with them.
That sparkle you once felt, now replaced with that of a heart wrenchingly , blank, nothing.
Although visibly close, you're now so very separate, you've changed.
I loved for you, but all along, I was hoping this wasn't it.
Who are you. We've lost it. You've lost me.
You've lost it.

Yes, the 55th Annual #Grammys were amazing to say the least. While the opening was quite disappointing with T.Swift attempting a Lady Gaga performance, Jay-Z and JT saved the show, and made quite a comeback!! Let's not forget the Marley Tribute and Rihanna's stunning performance, and who are we kidding, Frank Ocean received his first Grammy!! Miguel and Wiz, you gave a breathtaking performance, and thanks for hosting LL but really, you could have spared a few moments of your bio there. Let's be real though, nothing tops Beyonce's half-time show at the 47th Super Bowl.
