Horoscope of the Day:
The right thing isn't always the easiest thing. You may be faed with a choice that you know you have to make It's a hard choice. Making that choice may cause some disappointment, or some dissatisfaction in some area of your life.  It may even make you less popular. You know, though, that if you don't do what your heart and your conscience are telling you to do then you won't feel very good about yourself. But once you make the right choice, it will be like a key unlocking a door to something you want and need. Be true to yourself, Libra.

“Be brave. Even if you’re not, pretend to be. No one can tell the difference. Don’t allow the phone to interrupt important moments. It’s there for your convenience, not the callers. Don’t be afraid to go out on a limb. That’s where the fruit is. Don’t burn bridges. You’ll be surprised how many times you have to cross the same river. Don’t forget, a person’s greatest emotional need is to feel appreciated. Don’t major in minor things. Don’t say you don’t have enough time. You have exactly the same number of hours per day that were given to Pasteur, Michaelangelo, Mother Teresa, Helen Keller, Leonardo Da Vinci, Thomas Jefferson, and Albert Einstein. Don’t spread yourself too thin. Learn to say no politely and quickly. Don’t use time or words carelessly. Neither can be retrieved. Don’t waste time grieving over past mistakes Learn from them and move on. Every person needs to have their moment in the sun, when they raise their arms in victory, knowing that on this day, at his hour, they were at their very best. Get your priorities straight. No one ever said on his death bed, ‘Gee, if I’d only spent more time at the office’. Give people a second chance, but not a third. Judge your success by the degree that you’re enjoying peace, health and love. Learn to listen. Opportunity sometimes knocks very softly. Leave everything a little better than you found it. Live your life as an exclamation, not an explanation. Loosen up. Relax. Except for rare life and death matters, nothing is as important as it first seems. Never cut what can be untied. Never overestimate your power to change others. Never underestimate your power to change yourself. Remember that overnight success usually takes about fifteen years. Remember that winners do what losers don’t want to do. Seek opportunity, not security. A boat in harbor is safe, but in time its bottom will rot out. Spend less time worrying who’s right, more time deciding what’s right. Stop blaming others. Take responsibility for every area of your life. Success is getting what you want. Happiness is liking what you get. The importance of winning is not what we get from it, but what we become because of it. When facing a difficult task, act as though it’s impossible to fail.”

This is life, not a funeral service

Have you set your intentions for the week? Have you enjoyed a recuperating weekend preparing for the upcoming work week? Have you taken the weekend to hit "Refresh" so your week isn't as long and exhausting? If you have, you've already done way more than I have! If you haven't, here are some wise words to help put your mind at peace,  as promised!

First, turn some candles on, and light those incense. Allow your soul to calm itself, and your mind to rid itself from the never-ending stream of to-do list items that repeatedly keeps rolling through.  Take a deep breath and take it all in.  Remember to set your intentions by first choosing a mindset for a peaceful, patient and productive week.

Remember, it's not just a mindset. We must live a life of balance. It is a lifestyle. We must live with good intention, with value for exercise and good health. We must find the importance of intimacy and sexuality.  When we remember that its not all about work, we remember to play. Be a playful being. Lighten up.

Our culture, our society is so afraid to be intimate. Society has taught us to keep our walls up.  Life doesn't have to be taken so seriously. Breathe. Exhale the restrictions you've placed on yourself. Inhale all the mysterious and playful secrets you're going to make this week.  I challenge you to do something crazy this week. Let yourself go. If something crazy is 10 calories more, 20 minutes less on the elliptical, 30 minutes late to work, actually talking to that attractive man or women in line behind you, one more drink for the week, or letting one person tear one wall down... do it! Do it this week. Do it now!

Get passionate. Get crazy. Let go of fear and your need to control.  Let it slip away as you dive into the river of the present moment. Don't think too hard about things. The flow is meant to be experienced. Loosen up a bit. Get dirty. Have fun. This is life, not a funeral service. Enter into it. Participate. Experiment. Take a risk. Be spontaneous.

Sunday morning

There's nothing like a beautiful Sunday morning to begin wrapping up the weekend and getting ready for the work week.  Let's not forget to set our intentions for the week, allowing our negative energy to be left behind. Today's focus is going to be on the meaning of our lives and truly living it out to its fullest extent.

F. Scoot Fitzgerald once said,
"For what it's worth, it's never too late or, in my case, too early to be whoever you want to be. There's no time limit, stop whenever you want. You can change or stay the same, there are no rules to this thing.  We can make the best or the worst of it. I hope you make the best of it.  And I hope you see things that startle you.  I hope you feel things you've never felt before.  I hope you meet people with a different point of view.  I hope you live a life you're proud of. If you find you're not, I hope you have the strength to start all over again."

In a world where we find ourselves restrained each day, whether it be by ourselves and the fear of failing, by our family, our friends and the society, or by physical means, such as money and education, we must fight back and demand of ourselves to live the fullest life we are capable of. We must ask ourselves what the meaning of life is, what our purpose is in this world and then we must attack life with our positivity and our will to achieve greatness, to make a difference in this world, to leave it better than the way we came into it.  At the end of the day, we should be able to sit down and think to ourselves that through all the struggle, pain and "fighting back" it was all worth it.  Find what matters to you, find who YOU want to be, and go for it.

October has officially begun!!

The start of October always signifies so many things for me. It reminds me that I am in my last few months of this year, makes me feel just a little more relieved about my school work because the break is coming soon enough, it gets me excited for the holiday season, and most of all it's officially Libra season. Now I know, it has been Libra season since September 23rd, but when October hits, its OFFICIALLY Libra season.  By now, my avid readers know that I am a sucker for birthdays, I love celebrating other people's birthdays and I relish in the entire month of October for my own birthday! Not only is it the start of my favorite drinks at Coffee Bean, my favorite fall leaves, and the crisp cold, but it's also an influx in pumpkin as an ingredient-- which I LOVE!!

Yesterday I got ready for this month with an amazing Pumpkin Spice Latte from Starbucks:
and today I was able to officially begin my birthday wish list, which I will be posting by the end of the week!!

To all my Libras, here is some horoscope lovin'
"Many Librans would make excellent psychologists. That's because- being a naturally fair and balanced individual- you are able to see all angles of any situation. This gift allows you to understand what motivates others... what makes them tick. You may soon come face-to-face with an individual who is rather hard to figure out. This person might be causing a ruckus in some important situation that involved you or someone you are close to. This will be a chance to be a mediator, and to figure out the best way to arrange a meeting of the minds. It may be a challenge, but you are up to it."

And lastly, an October baby shout-out:
Happy Birthday to the one and only heartless person I know. You visit me in Santa Barbara, bring me flowers, and even pumpkin-chocolate, but still manage to be labeled as heartless. I've known you for too long now, and its been a trip seeing how much you've grown up since the 5th grade! You're still goofy and crazy as ever, but who knew that by 22 you'd be soo smart! You helped me get through some hard days with crazy roommates which I'll never forget, and our random video chat sesss always make my day! I hope you have an amazing day and that 22 makes you slightly more humble! We definitely need to rage Libra style again to celebrate! Happy Birthday NateKay, wish you all the best and more!!

Wise Wednesday

 Practice tolerance.
Tolerate our quirks, our feelings, our reactions, our peculiarities, our humanness.
Tolerate our ups and downs, our resistance to change, our struggling and sometimes awkward nature.
Tolerate our need to occasionally feel superior, to sometimes feel ashamed, and to occasionally share love as an equal. Tolerate the way we progress-- a few steps forward, and a couple back.
Tolerate our instinctive desire to control and how we reluctantly learn to practice detachment.  Tolerate the way we say we want love, and then sometimes push others away.  Tolerate our tendency to get obsessive, forget to trust God, and occasionally get stuck.  All the humanness we're tolerating is what makes ourselves and others beautiful.

I came across this quote today and I really love it. Read it, think about it, and share your thoughts on it!
"Having perfected our disguise, we spend our lives searching for someone we don't fool." - Robert Brault

Take this in today:

One thing at a time.
That's all we have to do. Not two things at once, but one thing done in peace.
One task at a time. One feeling at a time. One problem at a time. One step at a time.
One pleasure at a time.
Relax. Let go of urgency. Begin calmly now. Take one thing at a time.
See how everything works out?

I'm going to leave you with just this, readers. Have a relaxing Saturday!! <3

Tuesday, September 17, 2013

Good afternoon lovely readers,

We all have those days when we need a pick-me-up, some extra hugs and sweet words, or even one more smile for the day.  The start of this week has been rather difficult for me so I've decided to share some wise words focusing on spreading good energy in hopes to share the love and pass on a smile.  I want to be able to provide that little something extra to the next person, don't you?! I have selected some quotes and things that I feel will allow you to reflect on yourself and even perhaps allow you to challenge yourself this week.
"Its entirely possible to create something out of nothing but you must BELIEVE it can be done. You will meet many that will tell you otherwise. on't let anyone or anything dissuade you from this truth. In the end, the only thing that really matters is you doing it because you know without a shadow of a doubt this is what you are supposed to be doing. The rest will work itself out. "

Remember two things:
  • Take care of your thoughts when you are alone
  • Take care of your words when you are with people

Don't forget, tomorrow is Hump Day and it only, always gets better from here! Challenge yourself to live this week with positive energy spreading kindness to those around you and embedding faith within every step you take!

Happy Saturday readers!! I hope everyone has had a lovely week and is enjoying this great weekend; I know I did! Today was my second day of Sorority Recruitment at Chapman University and it was Philanthropy Day-- soo much fun!!! I've met some really great women who are so passionate in their foundations and the work they do giving back to the local and national community!!

On a completely separate note, I wanted to share a piece of writing that I absolutely LOVE. Yes, it is pretty deep, but it can have many interpretations!!

Marks

My husband gives me an A

for last night's supper,
an incomplete for my ironing,
a B plus in bed.
My son says I am average,
an average mother, but if
I put my mind to it
I could improve.
My daughter believes
in Pass/Fail and tells me
I pass.  Wait 'til they learn
I'm dropping out. -Linda Pastan

Let me know what your interpretations of this piece is! What does "dropping out" mean to you? Or even, share your favorite piece of writing!!

Song of the Day:
[[[[[[[[Avicci - Wake Me Up]]]]]]]]
Also, I have to say it was a pleasing surprise to hear that Avicci has officially gone country!! I definitely LOVE LOVE LOVE this song!!

I hope you all have an amazing Sunday as you get ready for the upcoming week!!

Chapman Day 1

So I have officially been back in the LA area for a week now, and have gotten the chance to get settled in and acclimated to what was once very familiar! Today was my first day at Chapman University and I couldn't imagine myself anywhere else! The moment I got to Chapman on Thursday morning for my orientation, I knew that I am where I am meant to be! The people go out of their way to be nice, the campus is absolutely gorgeous, and the hour and a half drive is worth it! Mondays are my longest and busiest days, but the madness of this Monday wasn't too bad! I met new people in all of my classes: French, Food Science, and Chemistry and learned new things about each of my professors! Chapman definitely feels like an entirely new and different world than SB, and I'm ready to take it in with open arms!! :)

GO PANTHERS!!!

Sunday, August 18, 2013

Tonight is my last night in Santa Barbara, and after 3 very crazy and amazing years I have to say goodbye to this chapter of my life. I am moving back to LA, which should be one of the easier transitions in my life; however it is still a change. Even though LA is home, I've had another place I've called home for the better part of three years and I can't help but remember that there was a reason I left LA to begin with. I know that I am going back to a city and not a time in that city, so aspects of my life will be far different than they were when I was in high school and that this will be an entire new adventure! I am excited, nervous, scared and ready to tackle all this new-ness all at once.
Personally I find reading peaceful quotes or insightful messages very helpful to get me through the tougher times and challenging moments, or even to help keep me focused on my intention for each day.

You can always count on HUMP DAY

New people come into our lives every day; sometimes we run into the old, but each person that crosses our path teaches us something new about ourselves and the world we live in.  Some of these people have an easier time breaking our walls down and entering our hearts, minds and lives; while we are able to detect red flags in others far quicker.
At the end of the day, I've learned that regardless of the people who find their way into our lives, we can only trust and depend on ourselves.  When all else fails, we must grow strong for ourselves. We can only truly believe that we don't have alternative motives as we will innately do whatever it takes to keep ourselves afloat. Take a moment on Hump Day to inhale the good, exhale the bad and trust yourself.  Trust that you will take care of yourself, that you will make healthy decisions, at least for the rest of this week, and that you will ultimately love yourself first so that at the end of the day you can depend on yourself if nobody else.

"Wanting to be someone else is a waste of the person you are." - unknown

For all you LIBRAS out there:
There is something about yourself that you don't like. It may be your current state of physical fitness. It may be a bad habit. It could be the way you behave in a specific relationship. It might be a lack of assertiveness, or too much aggression.  It could be anything. But it's on your mind because you are on a quest toward self-improvement. and changing whatever is on your mind is your key to reaching a higher level, and fulfilling your place here on earth. This is an excellent time to begin addressing this and any other flaws you wish to improve.  The cosmos is sending special healing energy your way.
